7 Days Rwanda safari gives you a chance to explore all the national parks in Rwanda. The game drives in Akagera national park allows you to see various wildlife found in the park. It is the only park in Rwanda where you can enjoy a remarkable game drive and some of the animals to spot include giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, elephants among others.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to akagera national park
The driver/guide will pick you from your hotel then start your journey to Akagera national park. The journey takes about 3 hours depending on the stops overs made along the way. The journey rewards you with a mesmerizing landscape coupled with sightings and feel free to ask the guide for stopovers in case you want to capture some pics. You will check-in at the lodge then have lunch, you will spend the evening at the lodge enjoying the landscape and nature of the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise.
You will wake up before the sun rises and have some coffee then go for a morning game drive where you will explore the park’s wildlife. Akagera national park is the biggest park in Rwanda and it is a home to a large number of wildlife of which can’t be found elsewhere in Rwanda. Some of the animals to encounter on the game drive include the Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes antelopes and many others. At the end of the game drive, you will drive back to your lodge and have breakfast and later lunch. In the Afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema and this cruise will enable you view some reptiles like the crocodiles and school of hippos then you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes national park and visit the twin lakes.
Have breakfast, and transfer to volcanoes national park thereafter; the journey will take you through the beautiful landscapes of the rolling hills hence appreciate why Rwanda is called the land of thousand hills. Have lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon drive to the twin lakes; Ruhondo and Burera found on the outskirts of the park. Have a boat ride to explore the beautiful scenery. Dinner and overnight will be served at the lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking.
After having breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing and by 8am you go to the starting point of the trek into the park. The park rangers give you a walking stick that shall help you with keeping your footing in certain rough terrain. It can take few minutes or several hours of trekking to meet the mountain gorillas. During the trek, you spot other wildlife like forest elephants, buffaloes and plenty of endemic birds. When you meet the mountain gorillas, you’re only given one hour with them to have pictures and also to observe them. Return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the evening at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park.
Have breakfast, and transfer to Nyungwe national park thereafter, on the way have a stopover at Lake Kivuand a boat cruise on one of the African deepest lakes. This will give you a chance to explore the different islands on this stunning Lake Kivu. Have lunch and proceed to the park. Dinner and overnight will be serve at the lodge.

Day 6 Chimpanzee tracking.
After having breakfast, go for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest. This adventure takes you deep into the forest to experience nature and also to get close to the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You are expected to be at the briefing point as early as 6am from where you will receive information on how to behave and possible length of your trek. Nyungwe forest hosts over 12 species of primates like L’Hoest’s monkeys, Ruwenzori colobus monkeys, and red tailed monkeys among others. Once the chimpanzees are sighted, you’re only allowed to spend an hour with them and after you go back to your hotel for lunch. In the evening you will spend the day at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali national park and visit the genocide memorial Center.
In the morning after breakfast embark on the journey to Kigali. Have a stopover at the traditional king’s palace at Nyanza where you will learn more about the history of Rwandan tradition and also at the national museum at butare where you will have lunch from. Visit the Kigali genocide memorial site when you reach Kigali. The visit will give you an insight of what happened during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. In the evening the driver will drop you at the hotel in Kigali or the airport.
